Sumitomo Rubber Australia supplies Dunlop & Falken branded tyres to the Australian replacement market. This established business in Australia is a subsidiary of Sumitomo Rubber Industries based in Japan with more than a century of trading history and a global presence in most countries around the world.

With expansion plans in place, the business is currently looking for a Tyre Technical Support Officer to assist the Technical Services Manager. Provide advice, training, and specialised support to staff and customers to improve product quality and indirectly support sales growth. You will work with passenger, 4WD, commercial and truck tyres. Competency based training will be provided as required.

About The Role

This role requires the successful applicant to use Tyre knowledge and experience to assist our staff and customers to grow business and increase profitability by becoming their trusted advisor.

Other activities required on a daily basis include:

· Inspect tyre quality, analyse results and report on findings to improve product performance

· Actively expand SRAU's knowledge base of market products, specifications, regulations and performance for all tyre categories

· Provide support for all matters to the Technical Services Manager

· Provide tyre technical and product training to SRAU staff, retailers, franchisees and end users

· Support the development of technical documents, product guides, training materials and other literature by Sales, Marketing or Technical Service teams

· Provide specialised support of commercial products to staff, retailers and end users

· Inspect vehicles, interpret tyre condition and provide technical advice on proper tyre selection, application, operation and maintenance

· Complete detailed surveys of vehicles, operating conditions and maintenance practices then report on findings to Technical Services Manager

About You

About You

The successful applicant must have the following attributes:

· A strong understanding of tyre manufacturing, design & construction.

· High-level organisational skills, be self-driven and possess initiative.

· At least 3 years of experience in Tyre technical functions of primary tyre manufacturers or distributors would be desirable.

· Strong knowledge of legal fitments, inflation pressures & wheel fitment

· Ability to resolve problems and conflicts.

· Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

· Unrestricted driver's license and availability for regular intrastate and/or interstate travel

· Basic understanding of design, operation, and maintenance of motor vehicles and/or heavy vehicles

· Intermediate level in MS Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, & Powerpoint)

· Identify and deliver preventative maintenance solutions to assist our customers.

Desirable attributes would be:

· Two (2) years’ experience in automotive, transport, or engineering industries.

· Two (2) years experience within the tyre industry.

· Tertiary Education at Trade, Diploma, or Graduate level would be desirable

· Ability to interpret tyre wear patterns caused by improper use, maintenance, application and external & internal influence.

· Good diagnosis and reporting skills of technical issues

· Knowledge of Australian PCR, 4WD, commercial & Truck compliance

· Training and/or product promotion experience
