The Town is seeking a full time Accountant to work as an integral member of a small and dedicated team. This role will provide technical guidance on a broad range of financial matters. Key responsibilities of the position include:
Complete month end processing and prepare high quality council reports.
Perform monthly reconciliations including investments, general ledgers, loans, creditors, debtors and payroll.
Overseeing the Town’s grant, term deposit and loan registers.
Prepare transaction entries (journals).
Prepare the Town’s Fringe Benefits Tax and Business Activity Statement returns.
Assisting with preparation of the annual budget and mid-year budget review.
What we are looking for
Experience in Local Government accounting is not essential but will be highly desirable. The successful candidate will:
Hold a Bachelor’s degree in accounting, commerce or equivalent.
Be detail orientated individual who understands the importance of accuracy and reporting timeframes.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
