Kitchen Farm Pantry
Posted 8 days ago
The world of hospitality is shifting, and like many small businesses, we’re evolving so we can keep offering what matters most: a place to gather, share good food, and connect with community. At Kitchen Farm, we’re moving from our brunch-style roots into a farm-to-table destination, where seasonal sharing plates, local wines, and relaxed dining take centre stage. Breakfast remains part of our offering, but our heart is now in creating memorable lunches that celebrate the best of the Adelaide Hills.
Our kitchen is complemented by a 1.2-acre market garden which is the first stage of a regenerative farm designed to enrich the community with nourishing food, education, and connection to the land. Alongside our own harvest, we partner with local growers and producers who share our commitment to permaculture practices and sustainability. Together, we’re building more than a café; we’re fostering a movement that values food, farming, and community wellbeing.
This is a fast-paced, vibrant, and growing environment, running from a small but well-equipped kitchen. To support our Head Chef and the exciting new direction of our menu, we’re seeking a Sous Chef who is passionate about fresh produce, creative with flavours, and thrives in a lively team atmosphere.
The Role
We are seeking an experienced chef who can work co-operatively as part of a dynamic team in a small kitchen that can be busy, vibrant, and loud during peak periods. You’ll work closely with the Head Chef, while also being confident working autonomously.
Your responsibilities will include:
Preparing and cooking both basic and advanced menu items to a high standard, aligned with the Head Chef’s direction.
Supporting the delivery of our new lunch service (12–3pm), breakfast offering, and group dining experiences.
Assisting with catering for special events and functions.
Leading the kitchen on Sunday, which is the busiest day of our week, when the Head Chef is off, ensuring smooth service and consistent quality.
Maintaining high standards of organisation, cleanliness, and efficiency within the kitchen.
Assisting with general café operations, including cleaning and food safety tasks, as required in a small team environment.
Upholding strong attention to detail, consistency, and a commitment to customer service.
About You
You love food, flavour, and working with fresh, seasonal produce.
You thrive in a small kitchen environment and enjoy the energy of a vibrant, sometimes loud service atmosphere.
You’re enthusiastic about sustainability, regenerative farming, and supporting local growers.
You bring a strong work ethic, are orderly and tidy, and thrive under the demands of a busy service.
You enjoy being part of a team but are confident taking initiative when required.
You’re flexible with hours, available on weekends, and excited by the variety that comes with events and future evening service.
The Offer
Initially 28–32 hours per week, with the potential to grow to full-time within 3–6 months.
Subject to a successful 3-month trial period, we’re prepared to offer a permanent position.
The chance to grow with a business that is redefining farm-to-table dining in the Adelaide Hills.
