Language Disorder Australia is seeking a passionate Health and Physical Education (HPE) Teacher to join our specialist school, Mancel College, and empower students to embrace healthy, active lifestyles while reaching their full potential.

Location: Mancel College @ Fig Tree Pocket, Brisbane (with some travel for events)
Position Type: Full Time, Permanent
Start Date: Term 1, 2026

As our HPE Teacher, you won’t just “teach", you’ll champion the mission of Language Disorder Australia, creating inclusive and engaging physical education programs that help children and young people with Language Disorder, connect, belong, and achieve.

Working within a values-based organisation, you’ll promote the importance of health and physical activity for students of all abilities. From planning exciting lessons that align with curriculum standards to ensuring student wellbeing and safety, your focus on inclusive practice will foster a classroom (and outdoor) environment where every student can succeed.

At Mancel College, we believe in transforming lives through education, therapy, and advocacy. By helping students build confidence in their physical abilities and grow their understanding of healthy lifestyles, you’ll play a central role in shaping future generations.

Together, we’ll continue to show what’s possible for young people with Language Disorder, may of whom have co-occurring disabilities, one movement, one game, one goal at a time.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

As a Health and Physical Education (HPE) Teacher, you will:

Be qualified and ready to go as a teacher (Hold teaching qualifications, QCT registrations, Child Safety Checks, Experience and knowledge to be a phenomenal and influential teacher).

Understand the needs of students with Language Disorder and Co-occurring Disabilities

Plan and Deliver HPE Curriculum

Foster Student Engagement and Wellbeing

Collaborate with Staff, Parents, and Community

Assess and Report Student Progress

Coordinate Extra/Co-Curricular Activities

Be committed to professional growth

WHAT YOU WILL NOT DO

Teach from a one-size-fits-all approach. Every student learns differently, and your role is to adapt, include, and inspire.

Work in isolation. You’ll collaborate with therapists, teachers, families, and the wider school community to support each student’s growth.

Ignore the power of movement. Physical education here is more than sport—it’s a pathway to confidence, connection, and wellbeing.

Leave students behind. You’ll champion every learner, especially those who’ve been misunderstood or overlooked in traditional settings.

BENEFITS

What can we give you in return for your passion:

An Exceptionally Satisfying Experience
Witness the transformative impact of your teaching as students discover their strengths, build confidence, and embrace healthy lifestyles.

Professional Development
Broaden your expertise with opportunities for internal and external training, transdisciplinary collaboration, and potential for career progression.
