St Mary’s Coptic Orthodox College (SMCO) is a vibrant Independent Coeducational School in Melbourne’s North, providing education to more than 1,000 students from Foundation to Year 12.

Following the promotion of the former Deputy Principal to College Principal, the College is now seeking an outstanding Deputy Principal – Staff and Students to join its Executive Leadership Team.

The Role

Reporting directly to the Principal, this role is responsible for leading and managing the operational, academic, and pastoral needs of the College, while supporting its mission and values. Key focus areas include:

Strategic and operational leadership across Foundation – Year 12

Staff management, performance development and professional growth

Student wellbeing, behaviour and pastoral care

Compliance with Child Safety Standards, VRQA, VCE and Victorian curriculum requirements

Faith and Orthodox Christian leadership in partnership with the Principal and Executive Team

About You

We are seeking a dynamic, values-driven leader with:

Current VIT registration (or eligibility to obtain)

Significant leadership experience in a Foundation–Year 12 setting

Strong understanding of Victorian curriculum, VCE and school operations desirable

Demonstrated ability to lead staff teams, manage performance and drive school improvement

A commitment to child safety, wellbeing, and inclusive practice

Authentic understanding of, and commitment to, the Orthodox Christian Faith

Postgraduate qualifications in Educational Leadership, Theology, or related fields are highly regarded
