Our client is a multidisciplinary project management and engineering consultancy with a strong presence across Australia’s major projects landscape. With deep technical expertise and a collaborative delivery model, the business supports clients across infrastructure, utilities, and energy - from concept through execution.

As they continue to expand within the energy transition space, the firm is seeking to appoint a senior leader to establish and grow its energy division - driving new business, leading project delivery, and building a high-performing team around them.

The Role

The Director – Energy will spearhead the consultancy’s growth across Australia’s evolving energy market. This position is ideal for a commercially minded technical leader who thrives on both winning and delivering complex projects across renewable generation, storage, and transmission infrastructure.
You’ll be responsible for developing strategic client relationships, securing new engagements, and ensuring high-quality delivery across the firm’s portfolio of energy-related assignments.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the establishment and strategic direction of the energy business unit.
• Identify, pursue, and secure project opportunities across renewable generation, battery storage, and major grid infrastructure.
• Oversee the delivery of multidisciplinary projects from inception to completion, ensuring technical and commercial excellence.
• Develop and nurture relationships with utilities, developers, investors, EPCs, and government stakeholders.
• Build, mentor, and manage a growing team of engineers and project managers.
• Collaborate with the executive leadership team to drive profitability, capability development, and market positioning.
• Contribute to bids, proposals, and strategic partnerships to expand the firm’s service offering within the energy transition.

About You

• Degree qualified in engineering, project management, or a related discipline.
• 10–15+ years’ experience within the energy, utilities, or infrastructure sectors.
• Proven ability to win work and manage client relationships at a senior level.
• Strong understanding of project lifecycles - from feasibility and design through to delivery and commissioning.
• Demonstrated leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and develop teams.
• Excellent commercial acumen and communication skills.
