About your opportunity:
As a Legal Support Officer, you'll take on a vital role in ensuring the success of the DNA File Review Project by performing the following key responsibilities:
• Provide high-quality administrative assistance to Principal Legal Officers as they prepare detailed reviews of historical criminal cases, with a focus on Forensic DNA evidence.
• Maintain accurate records of review activities, conduct legal research as requested, and provide general support to ensure the smooth operation of the project.
• Build and maintain strong working relationships with stakeholders, including Courts, victims and their families, and both chamber-based and project-based staff.
• Work closely within a small, dedicated team of legal and administrative professionals to deliver timely and accurate results in a challenging and complex legal environment.
• Ensure an organised and reliable bring-up system is in place to manage project matters effectively.
• Provide sensitive and empathetic communication to victims and witnesses, in consultation with Victim Liaison Officers.
As a Legal Support Officer, you will bring your expertise to the role by demonstrating:
• Proven experience in delivering high-quality administrative support, with advanced computer literacy and proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite and database management.
• Excellent time management and organisational skills, with the capability to prioritise and manage tasks effectively in a fast-paced legal environment.
• High-level written communication abilities, complemented by excellent interpersonal skills to engage confidently with a range of stakeholders.
• A cooperative and team-oriented approach, working effectively with others to achieve shared goals and organisational success.
• A commitment to ethical behaviour, respect, and cultural sensitivity in all interactions and work practices.
