The District Nurses is seeking a passionate and experienced Work Health and Safety Specialist (WHSS) to join our team. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in ensuring the safety and wellbeing of our staff, clients, and visitors, while embedding a proactive and positive safety culture across The District Nurses.
About the Role
Reporting to the People and Culture Manager, the WHSS will lead the development, implementation, and monitoring of workplace health and safety systems and processes. You will:
- Act as the first point of contact for WHS advice and guidance.
- Conduct risk assessments, ergonomic assessments, and safety audits.
- Lead workplace investigations and oversee corrective actions.
- Coordinate WHS-related training and awareness programs.
- Manage workplace injury, workers compensation, and return-to-work processes.
- Drive continuous improvement in safety outcomes and compliance with legislation and aged care quality standards.
About You
We are looking for someone who brings both technical WHS expertise and strong interpersonal skills. You will be able to influence and engage people at all levels, while applying a practical, solutions-focused approach to workplace health and safety.
Essential requirements:
- Relevant WHS qualification (minimum Certificate IV) or equivalent experience
- National Police Check
- Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP) clearance
Desirable skills and experience:
- Experience in health, community services, or aged care environments
- Return-to-Work Coordinator accreditation (or willingness to obtain)
- Strong organisational, analytical, and communication skills
