We are looking for a talented and experienced BI AND Database Developer with, ideally, expertise in the ALTUS by Sensei platform to join our data team. You'll be a key part of leveraging our data to drive strategic decisions and operational efficiency. This is a hybrid role that requires strong skills in Microsoft SQL Server database development and reporting, combined with specific, in-depth knowledge of the ALTUS by Sensei platform. You will be responsible for enhancing our data capabilities, improving system performance, and delivering actionable insights in an agile environment.

Job Summary

The BI and Database Developer will be the subject matter expert for our business intelligence and data solutions built on the ALTUS by Sensei platform. This role involves the full lifecycle of data development, from designing robust data models and ETL processes to creating insightful reports and dashboards. You will work closely with business users and technical teams to ensure our data infrastructure is optimized, accurate, and aligned with business goals.

Key ResponsibilitiesAs a core member of our clients agile team, your role will be focused on:

• Developing and Optimizing Databases: You will be responsible for making changes to our relational databases, including schema modifications, stored procedures, and performance tuning within the Microsoft SQL Server environment. All changes must be well-documented.
• Creating and Enhancing BI Solutions: You will work on an agile backlog to deliver incremental value each sprint. This includes building and maintaining reports and dashboards in Power BI, as well as leveraging the ALTUS by Sensei platform to its full potential.
• Driving Process Improvement: You will identify and implement "out-of-the-box" functionalities within the ALTUS tool to improve how data is captured, configured, and used, directly contributing to the incremental performance of our BPM tool.
• Reporting & Analytics: You will develop reports and dashboards that provide clear, tangible business value, ensuring our data is both accurate and easily accessible to stakeholders.
• Develop and maintain business intelligence solutions using the ALTUS by Sensei platform, including data model design, ETL/data pipeline creation, and report development.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to gather and understand business requirements, translating them into effective technical specifications and data solutions.
• Write and optimize complex SQL queries, stored procedures, functions, and views to support data extraction, transformation, and reporting.
• Design and manage the underlying database structures (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle) that feed the ALTUS platform, ensuring data integrity, performance, and scalability.
• Create compelling reports, dashboards, and visualizations within ALTUS to provide actionable insights to business users across the organization.
• Troubleshoot and resolve data-related issues, ensuring the reliability and accuracy of our data and reports.
• Provide technical support and training to end-users on how to effectively use the BI tools and understand the data.
• Stay current with updates and new features of the ALTUS by Sensei platform to continually improve our data capabilities.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• 3-5 years of professional experience in a Business Intelligence, Data Development, or a similar role.
• Experience with other BI tools like Power BI or Tableau.
• Strong expertise in SQL and experience with relational database management systems (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL).
• Solid understanding of data warehousing concepts (e.g., Kimball methodology, star/snowflake schemas).
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex data concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects and priorities.
• BI & ALTUS Development: You must have hands-on experience as a BI ALTUS Developer, with the ability to leverage its unique functionalities to deliver superior results. Your expertise with the ALTUS product should be a stronger skill than your general database development experience.
• Microsoft Stack Proficiency: You must be cross-skilled with core Microsoft tools, including deep knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server (SSIS is a plus) for database development and strong experience creating reports and dashboards with Power BI.
• Database & Reporting Skills: You must have solid experience with relational databases, including making database changes based on reasonably documented processes. Your reporting skills should be well-honed and adaptable.
• BI Focus: A strong competency in BI development, with a specific focus on creating impactful Power BI reports.
• Process-Oriented: A demonstrated ability to deliver well-documented database changes and improve processes with a keen eye for detail.
• Agile Methodology: Experience working in an agile or Scrum environment, managing a backlog, and delivering on sprint commitments is essential.

Preferred Skills (Nice-to-haves)

• Demonstrable, hands-on experience with the ALTUS by Sensei platform, including its data modeling, ETL, and reporting modules.
• Knowledge of scripting languages such as Python or R.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms like Microsoft Azure or AWS.
• Experience in the financial services or operational sectors.
• Niche Skillset: Your unique combination of Microsoft stack and ALTUS by Sensei expertise makes you a highly valuable candidate in the Australian market.
• Tech Stack Knowledge: Experience with other Microsoft BI tools like SSAS or a working knowledge of Azure cloud services (Azure Data Factory, Synapse Analytics).
• Industry Background: Prior experience in the [e.g., financial services, supply chain] industry would be highly regarded.
• Education: A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
