We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced individual to work collaboratively within the Parks & Strategic Operations Team as a Spray Operator. If you enjoy working outdoors and are looking for an active and hands on role, this is for you!
- Permanent, full-time position.
- Remuneration of $2,323.36 gross per fortnight with the opportunity to progress to $2,788.03 gross per fortnight + superannuation (12%).

This position is responsible for:
- Undertake spray operation duties including chemical handling, allocation, and storage and spraying; maintenance and cleaning of spray equipment and tools; and weed identification and reporting.
- Assist in the development and implementation of maintenance schedules for spray operations in accordance with annual works programs.
- Operate and maintain Council plant and equipment with an emphasis on LR Truck operation and spray application equipment.
- Undertake gardening duties including establishment and maintenance of gardens and lawns; planting; pruning; hedging; mowing; tree maintenance; whipper snipping; weeding; irrigation; soil and sediment control; rehabilitation works; chemical application; pest/disease control; maintenance of facilities; rubbish removal; traffic/pedestrian management; fencing; concreting; paving; and site safety and security.
- Operate and maintain items of plant (utility, chainsaw, ride on and push mowers and implement operation), equipment, tools (hand and power) and personal protective equipment and clothing (PPE/C) in accordance with Council standards.
- Respond to customer service requests in accordance with approved service levels.
- Undertake administrative duties relevant to the role including but not limited to; Work Health & Safety documentation (i.e. site safety inductions, risk assessments), quotations and orders; timesheet and leave authorisations, maintenance of registers etc.
What you will need to succeed:
- Substantial experience relevant to the role.
- Qualifications relevant to the role e.g. Certificate II or III Horticulture/Conservation and Land Management.
- Current Class LR Driver's Licence.
- AQF III Chemical Application Certificate.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team and independently.
- Sound communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to deliver quality customer service, contribute to service improvements and adapt to change.
In accordance with Work Health and Safety legislation, the successful applicant is required to be vaccinated for Hepatitis B and will be asked to provide evidence of this.
