Employment Term: Permanent full time (76 hours per fortnight)
Location: Star of the Sea, Aged Care Facility, Thursday Island
Remuneration: $37.16 per hour + Super + Not for Profit Salary Packaging + Penalties & Allowances

Services for Star of the Seas are delivered by Pinangba, an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander-led arm of UnitingCare. The foundations of Pinangba are built from our cultural identity and strong community relationships and partnerships.
We deliver culturally informed services through innovative service delivery to progress Self-Determination for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples through unique and holistic care; prioritising social justice to nurture physical, mental and spiritual healing.
About the role:
This is a great opportunity for an experienced Chef aiming to restore their work life balance and gain employment in one of Australia's fastest growing industries with the following:
A minimum of 3-5 years of Chef experience is required for this position.
Prepare, cook and serve food in adherence with dietary requirements with a strong focus on food safety standards
Oversee Catering, Cleaning and Laundry functions across the facility and staff accommodation
Support senior hospitality staff members with menu design and implementation
Promote quality standards and maintain service with standard operating procedures including audit, stock control across all hospitality functions
Role requirements:
Australian work authorisation is required at the time of application.
As an experienced Chef, you'll take pride in your presentation, be knowledgeable in relation to nutrition and have a keen interest on the impact of dietary requirements on our aged residents.
Aged care or healthcare catering experience is preferred but not required.
You will have proven experience in safe food preparation, storage and delivery, a clear understanding of WHS, be confident in medium-high volume meal preparation and demonstrate the following:
Relevant trade qualifications or equivalent skills from previous experience
Certificate IV Kitchen Management qualification is required.
Great communication skills and excellent attention to detail
Understanding of Australian food and beverage standards
Confidence to satisfy the relevant probity checks required by legislation or policies
