About us:
The Queensland Human Rights Commission (QHRC or Commission) is an independent statutory body with responsibilities under two Queensland laws, them Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 (ADA) and the Human Rights Act 2019 (HRA). Our purpose is to strengthen the understanding, acceptance and promotion of human rights in Queensland, and to eliminate discrimination and sexual harassment. Our team:
The Enquiries and Dispute Resolution (EDR) directorate provides information and referrals to the public about discrimination and human rights. We also provide dispute resolution services to the public in relation to complaints received by the Commission under the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 and the Human Rights Act 2019, including early resolution and conciliation services.
Success criteria:
To be successful in this role, you will need to demonstrate:
• Ability to interpret legislation and apply knowledge of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 and Human Rights Act 2019 to resolve complaints, using sound judgement and minimising risk.
• Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective relationships with diverse complaint parties, colleagues and managers.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks, including administrative and file management tasks, to achieve performance objectives with minimal supervision.
• Proven ability to be resilient to sustain working in confronting and challenging circumstances, including being able to deal with matters that may either be confronting, disturbing, distressing and/or offensive in nature.
• Ability to conduct effective dispute resolution processes including conciliation conferences to achieve organisational complaint resolution goals.

There are no mandatory requirements for the role, however public sector knowledge and qualifications in a relevant discipline will be highly regarded. Your suitability for the role will be assessed against the Leadership Competencies for Queensland.
