The Fabricator is a key member of Warle Pty Ltd’s construction team, responsible for the fabrication, assembly, and installation of structural steel components used in modular buildings and general construction projects. This is a hands-on role requiring precision, trade skills, and the ability to work across both workshop and site environments.

Working in Warle’s Darwin-based modular manufacturing facility and on remote NT projects, the Fabricator will contribute to the delivery of residential, community, and commercial buildings. This role plays a critical part in ensuring the structural integrity, safety, and quality of Warle’s builds, while supporting the company’s mission of creating culturally connected infrastructure and providing employment pathways for Aboriginal people in construction.

Key Responsibilities
Structural Fabrication & Welding

Fabricate, cut, and assemble steel frames, beams, and structural components to specification.

Carry out MIG/TIG welding, oxy cutting, grinding, and finishing to required standards.

Ensure all welds and fabricated components meet engineering drawings and quality requirements.

Assist with installation of steel structures, including rigging, bracing, and alignment on site.

Workshop & Site-Based Delivery

Operate fabrication machinery (cutters, presses, welders) safely and effectively.

Work in the Darwin modular facility to assemble structural frames and modular chassis.

Travel to project sites to assist with steel installation, erection, and commissioning.

Interpret fabrication drawings, shop details, and engineering specifications.

Quality, Safety & Tools

Comply with all Work Health and Safety (WHS) protocols, SWMS, and toolbox meetings.

Maintain clean and safe work areas in the workshop and on site.

Safely operate hand tools, welding equipment, and lifting gear.

Conduct quality checks on fabricated components and maintain fabrication records.

Teamwork & Cultural Awareness

Collaborate with other trades, supervisors, and apprentices to deliver projects.

Support and mentor Aboriginal apprentices and trainees where possible.

Respect cultural protocols and work professionally within community settings.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

Fabrication and welding works completed to specification and quality standards.

Projects delivered on time and aligned with schedules.

100% compliance with WHS, PPE, and safe work practices.

Well-maintained tools, equipment, and fabrication records.

Constructive contributions to teamwork, site culture, and skills transfer.

Key Selection Criteria

Essential – Trade qualification in fabrication, welding, or equivalent demonstrated experience.

Strong skills in MIG/TIG welding, cutting, grinding, and fabrication of steel structures.

Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings and engineering details.

Knowledge of WHS requirements, safe welding practices, and workshop/site safety.

Willingness to work across workshop and remote project sites.

Ability to travel to regional and remote NT communities for project delivery.

Desirable – Experience with modular or prefabricated steel structures.

Desirable – Experience working in or alongside Aboriginal communities.
