Construction Director – Fit-Out & Refurbishment

Our Construction division in Melbourne is growing, and we are seeking a proven leader to join us as Construction Director – Fit-Out & Refurbishment.

About the Role

Reporting directly to the National Director in charge of Construction, this pivotal role will oversee the operations of our local Fit-Out and Refurbishment business. You will play a key role in driving performance, and building a sustainable pipeline of projects and talent.

While the focus will be on fit-out and refurbishment, you will also have the mandate to leverage Schiavello’s broader capabilities and pursue new opportunities across the construction spectrum. The successful applicant will be a collaborator who can build trust in management through proactive communication. They will be adaptable and resilient, with a pragmatic approach to day-to-day BAU, without losing sight of broader business strategy and long term goals. Integrity and transparency are critical to this role.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and manage the Fit-Out & Refurbishment business operations.

Develop a capable project delivery team.

Build strong pipelines of work, securing new business both within and beyond the fit-out/refurbishment sector.

Leverage existing client relationships and networks to generate repeat and referral opportunities.

Ensure projects are delivered to the highest standards of quality, safety, and profitability.

Drive operational excellence and alignment with Schiavello’s values of reliability, collaboration, and outcomes.

Skills & Experience

Proven track record as a senior leader in the construction industry (fit-out and/or refurbishment experience highly regarded).

Strong client relationships and deep knowledge of the Melbourne construction market.

A current Builder’s License.

Demonstrated ability to lead teams, develop talent, and foster a high-performance culture.

Business development acumen with a history of winning work and contributing to revenue growth.

Commercial mindset with a strong and proven track record of delivering profitable projects

Strategic thinker with a balanced understanding of opportunities and risks in business and construction
