About your role
As a Registered Nurse in the Elective Surgery Access Team, you will play a key role in preparing and optimising patients for planned surgery. Working closely with the interprofessional team, you will coordinate care in preadmission clinics, drawing on your clinical knowledge and assessment skills to deliver safe, compassionate, and person-centred care.
In this role you will:
- Provide comprehensive preadmission assessments and patient education.
- Coordinate and optimise patients for surgery in collaboration with case managers and clinicians.
- Use critical thinking and clinical judgement to support patient-centred outcomes.
- Contribute to quality initiatives, evidence-based practice, and continuous improvement.
- Support patients and families with clear communication, empathy, and professionalism.
- Work as part of a collaborative, multidisciplinary team to meet surgical access targets.
About you

- Current registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse.

The Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Hospital (QEII) is a medium metropolitan adult facility providing a range of inpatient and outpatient services including a 24-hour Emergency Department. We provide a range of services, including surgery, cardiology, endoscopy, orthopaedics, gynaecology, urology, geriatric, respiratory and emergency medicine.
We're making our hospital bigger and better to make it easier for our growing community to get the health care they need. We'll have more beds, medical wards and expanded intensive care and emergency services planned to be opened by 2027.
