Xavier College is seeking a dynamic and compassionate House Director – Pastoral Care (HDPC) to join our vibrant Gawler Belt Campus (7-12). This is a key leadership position (POR3) with responsibility for driving student pastoral care, wellbeing and engagement. Multiple positions are available with a January 2026 commencement date.
Working in close partnership with your HDPC counterpart and the Gawler Belt Leadership team, you will provide both strategic and operational leadership in student wellbeing, staff development and House identity, contributing to a safe, inclusive and values-based school environment.
This position involves a teaching component and should be read in conjunction with the Teacher Position Information Document.
Key Responsibilities include:
Lead and model best practice in pastoral care and behaviour education to staff
Mentor and support staff through professional development, classroom observations, and ongoing pastoral collaboration
Lead and guide Oratory teachers in the effective delivery of the Oratory
Develop and maintain a strong Salesian identity, embedding the College’s Christian ethos into daily interactions and leadership
Monitor and respond to student needs, including case management, referrals, and implementation of wellbeing strategies
Coordinate student events and activities such as House events, orientation camps, peer support programs and wellbeing initiatives
Guide and empower Student Leaders to promote a positive and inclusive student culture
Foster collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders

The successful candidate will demonstrate:
Commitment to the Salesian values and Catholic ethos of Xavier College
A deep understanding of adolescent development and contemporary student wellbeing issues
Proven leadership skills in pastoral care, conflict resolution and staff development
Experience in developing, implementing and evaluating student wellbeing and behaviour support programs
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trust, motive and connect with others.
An active commitment to ongoing professional learning
