We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Maintenance Fitter to join our diverse team in an inclusive and dynamic steel recycling environment. Our ideal candidate will bring a wealth of experience and expertise in breakdown repairs and maintenance of heavy industrial machines and conveyors.

Responsibilities

• Perform regular breakdown repairs and maintenance on heavy industrial machines and conveyors, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal performance.
  
• Diagnose mechanical faults and strategize solutions to prevent recurrence, utilizing a strong ability for fault finding.
  
• Collaborate with team members and other departments to improve machinery performance and reliability.
  
• Maintain and service hydraulic and pneumatic systems, actively contributing expertise and innovative ideas.
  
• Utilize welding skills and techniques when necessary to solve maintenance challenges and extend equipment life.
  
• Ensure adherence to all workplace safety protocols and practices, fostering a culture of safety and responsibility.
  
• Communicate effectively with team members and management, contributing to a positive and inclusive workplace culture.
  
• Restricted electrical knowledge an advantage.

Qualifications

• Australian Recognised Trade Certificate in Maintenance Fitting or equivalent technical qualification.
  
• Proven experience in breakdown repairs and maintenance of heavy industrial machinery, with an emphasis on hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  
• Demonstrated expertise in fault finding; identifying issues and implementing effective maintenance solutions quickly and efficiently.
  
• Welding experience is an advantage, with the willingness to develop skills in this area if not already qualified.
  
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to equipment maintenance and repair.
  
• Excellent teamwork and communication skills, with respect for diverse perspectives and contributions.
