Opportunity:
The City of Albany is seeking a motivated and technically skilled individual to join its Arts and Culture team in a Technical Assistant role at the Albany Town Hall. This position offers an exciting opportunity to be part of delivering high-quality events, performances, and community programs in one of Albany’s key cultural venues. The successful applicant will assist in the operation, maintenance, and development of the Town Hall’s sound, video, and lighting systems. The role also includes contributing to the planning and delivery of arts and cultural projects, providing technical advice and support to clients and artists, and participating in broader community arts initiatives. This position is ideal for someone with a passion for the performing arts, technical production, and community engagement, who enjoys working as part of a creative and collaborative team.
About You:
We are looking for a skilled, collaborative, and community-focused individual with a strong background in theatre production and event technical support. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience operating and maintaining sound, video, and lighting systems, and will be confident providing technical advice and support to clients and team members. They will possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively within a creative team and engage with a wide range of stakeholders. A solid understanding of community arts and cultural development principles is essential, along with strong organisational, problem-solving, and time management skills. The candidate will be adaptable, safety-conscious, and committed to delivering high-quality outcomes for events and community programs. Experience in theatre production and technical services are essential, along with relevant tickets and licences, or a willingness to obtain them.

About City of Albany
Albany and its surrounds was home to the Menang Noongar people, the area was called Kinjarling which means "the place of rain". Archaeological excavations have found evidence of sites dating back over 18,000 years.
The first recorded sighting of the King George sound was in 1627. The following year the first map the south coast was produced which shows a bay and islands that is possibly King George sound. It was another 164 years before Commander George Vancouver on board Discovery sailed into the sound and named it for King George III.
