About the company/role:
Our client is a flagship life sciences and innovation hub in Australia’s first innovation district. The site features PC2 labs, warehouse, and manufacturing space and is purpose-built to support leading researchers and innovators within a thriving ecosystem of academic, health, and technology partners. The Lab & Community Manager will be responsible for the daily operations of the site along with liaising with external stakeholders and potential investors.

Responsibilities include:

• Manage day-to-day operations on site with the facility management team (tenant communication, coordination of contractor visits and specialized infrastructure maintenance to ensure good service)
• Maintenance and training of staff on shared equipment and facilities
• Communicate with heads of lab and operation teams on site and be the point of contact for the Area 53 North Ryde community
• Provide input on the development of policies and operating procedures for the facility to ensure compliance with work health and safety standards and best practice laboratory operations.
• Facilitate external tours through the property with key stakeholders and give high level details about lab tenants and their work
• Support internal events with scheduling and concierge management
• Invest in effective relationships to develop our core facilities and services offering better support to our on-site and local community
• Represent the vision of Area 53 and its value to the scientific community to the tenants, potential new tenants and external visitors to site.
• Identify and develop opportunities with the Area 53 and site team to grow and promote the community of scientists and their work.

Skills & Experience:

• Experience as a Lab Manager would be beneficial (ideally within a PC2 Lab)
• Experience in laboratory operations, requirements and regulations
• Strong computer skills and great attention to detail
• Excellent time management and problem-solving skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
