The Role

Patten Robins is seeking an experienced litigator with strong commercial law experience to complement our high impact, boutique law firm.

The role includes mentoring a junior litigator, commercial lawyer, and paralegals, as well as managing the Commercial and Litigation team invoicing targets. You will also receive guidance and mentoring from our principal who has 14 years PQE.

The commercial and litigation team files are comprised of building disputes, retail leases, general debt matters, employment law and commercial litigation. Some files are in prelitigation dispute resolution and active litigation is on foot in most jurisdictions in Victoria including the Magistrates’ Court, County Court, Supreme Court, Federal Court and the VCAT. The team also conduct some work in NSW and Queensland, with active litigation in both jurisdictions currently.

The role provides the opportunity for regular court appearances and advocacy opportunities. Our principal has advocacy experience in most jurisdictions over the last 16 years having appeared in thousands of proceedings.

Coast to Coast operates in separate locations including regional Victoria and Sunshine Coast, Queensland . Interstate work and travel opportunities are available to the right candidate. Maeve O'Brien & Associates are located in separate premises in Balwyn North, close to Patten Robins.

About you

The successful candidate will be a strong litigator with commercial acumen, who is ready, willing, and able to hit the ground running. Applications are requested from those with a minimum 6 years PQE and someone with the confidence to strategise and problem solve complex matters efficiently and mentor others to do the same.

While the ideal candidate would be full time, strong applicants with a preference for a four day week will also be considered.

Salary to be negotiated based on experience and ability.
