Western Meat Exporters Pty Ltd is located in Charleville, Southwest Queensland, approximately 750km west of Brisbane and is the largest employer in Southwest Queensland currently employing 310 employees and has been successfully operation since 1996 exporting Lamb, Sheep and Goat Meat to many countries around the world including China, Korea, Malaysia, Canada, the USA and Taiwan.
The Workplace Health & Safety (WHS) Coordinator plays a pivotal role within the business to ensure develop, implement and maintain Work Health and Safety polices and manage best practices to ensure a healthy and safe workplace for all employees
This role will be a hands-on, reporting to the Human Resources Manager, your main duties and responsibilities will include but not be limited to;
Support management, supervisors, team leaders, and staff in complying with their legislated WHS duties and responsibilities by providing timely and relevant coaching, advice and/or support on a broad range of safety topics, such as, hazards, near misses, risk assessments, manual handling, injury management, risk controls and reviewing effectiveness of implemented control measures.
Oversee the continual improvement of safety inductions for all contractors, staff and Users to ensure they are appropriately briefed on WHS policies and procedures.
Ensure up to date maintenance and data entry of records, registers and logs and other documentation to facilitate compliance with WHS management system.
Support Managers and Supervisors in the implementation of regular Toolbox talks, daily pre-start meetings by presenting and creating targeted safety content.
Monitor & complete safety observations
Monthly safety reporting and Workplace Safety Meetings
Work with other key stakeholders such as Human Resources, Quality, Production and Maintenance to understand safety requirements.
Perform site-based audits and safety walks to identify and address risks.
Support the reduction of Injuries and their severity.
Qualifications
Effective communication skills
Ability to build relationships with all levels of the team
Basic knowledge and understanding of current Work Health and Safety
Certificate IV in Work Health & Safety is desirable but not essential
Please note Q Fever vaccination prior to commencement is mandatory by law.
