Position Description
The Integrated Product Manager is responsible for managing a team of specialists in engineering, logistics, project management and commercial to enable the delivery of support services for the Product. The Integrated Product Manager is accountable for leading a team, managing risk, budgets, governance, delivery of contracted services, and engagement with numerous stakeholders.
Duties include:
Accountable for managing allocated resources, setting work area priorities, managing workflows, developing strategies and evaluating business outcomes.
Accountable for managing and leading a team, including providing clear and consistent communication, setting clear performance and behavioural standards, managing performance, delegating responsibility and guiding and developing people.
Accountable for accurate completion of work within timeframes and quality requirements, share own expertise with others and guide and coach less experienced employees.
Accountable to manage a range of product management activities and coordinate inputs in accordance with procedures, methods and standards appropriate to the complexity of the product.
Accountable for the development, implementation and monitoring of product management strategies and plans, enabling delivery and reporting on the requirements and expectations of the management of Defence assets.
Translate, apply and implement the administrative, operational, contract management, technical and resource requirements for complex to very complex product management activities.
Forecast, plan and manage product management workflows and resources, prepare work plans detailing measurable milestones and expected outcomes.
Engage, negotiate and sustain working relationships on complex to very complex issues to understand and influence the stakeholder requirements.
Build and sustain productive working relationships to enable effective transition of the Defence asset through the capability lifecycle.
Analyse, develop and implement product management options that achieve optimal use of Defence assets, balancing cost, opportunities and risks against desired asset performance.
Review, analyse and report on product performance
Qualifications and Experience
In addition to the defined responsibilities of the position, the following requirements of this position are considered fundamental to the Product Manager:
10+ Years’ Experience within Defence logistics, project management of engineering
Post Graduate qualifications in logistics, sustainment, project management or engineering.
The following requirements of this position are considered desirable to the Product Manager:
Experience in Capability Projects in the Defence and/or Capability Acquisition and Sustainment Group (CASG) environment
Understanding of technical, logistical, and operational requirements in the delivery of capability, and knowledge of applicable Defence policy and legislation
Experience in managing cross-functional expectations of diverse technical specialisations.
