We are a CPA firm located in St Kilda/Windsor.

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Tax Accountant to join our team.

The ideal candidate will have proven experience in a public practice environment, with a strong background in accounting and taxation for small businesses and complex, multi-entity groups. This position offers the opportunity to work with a diverse range of clients and handle a variety of tasks

You will take ownership of sophisticated client matters, act as a trusted adviser, and provide guidance to junior staff.

Key Attributes:

Proven experience of at least 5 years in a public practice environment but ideally longer

CA/CPA qualification

Strong writing and communication skills, with excellent attention to detail and the ability to engage directly with clients.

Demonstrated capability to manage complex work: consolidated and multi-entity groups, inter-entity transactions, Division 7A/loan accounts, trusts, and corporate compliance.

Proven ability to mentor, review, and upskill junior/intermediate accountants; confident in setting standards, reviewing files, and giving clear feedback.

Proficiency in various accounting software, ideally strong experience in Xero.

Strong knowledge of Income Tax laws and GST framework, with experience preparing Income Tax Returns, Financial Reports, and BAS for a broad range of taxpayers including multi-entity groups.

Professional polish and discretion when dealing with high-net-worth and sophisticated clients; comfortable running meetings and presenting recommendations.

Key Responsibilities:

Preparation of Financial Reports and Income Tax Returns for companies, trusts, partnerships, sole traders, individuals, and multi-entity groups.

Liaising with government agencies, such as the Tax Office, ASIC, and SRO on various administrative matters.

Direct client communication to maintain workflow and follow up on any outstanding queries.

Scoping, reviewing, and signing off work prepared by junior team members; establishing best-practice workpapers and checklists.

Identifying technical issues and proposing practical solutions (e.g., trust distributions, small business CGT concessions, PSI/PSB considerations, FBT exposure, and Division 7A).

Leading client meetings, preparing concise advice notes, and coordinating with external advisers where required.

About You:

You are a confident and capable accountant who thrives on complexity. You are comfortable stepping into client meetings, tackling technical tax questions, and guiding less experienced team members. You are proactive, commercially minded, and always looking for ways to improve processes and client outcomes.

You have the right experience and have had exposure to complex clients.
