About the gig

Love the bush, barra, and getting stuck into meaningful work? We're chasing a switched-on Light Vehicle Mechanic to join Darky's Mechanical Services. You'll fly from Darwin into Ramingining (East Arnhem Land) to look after fleets for local government and service providers. Some swings are flat-out; other days you'll be cruising through scheduled services and enjoying a sunset that'll make your city mates jealous.

What you'll be doing

Diagnose, repair and service cars, 4WDs, light commercials and the odd light construction machine

Knock over preventative maintenance and write up clean records

Talk straight with customers to understand issues and sort solutions

Keep tooling tidy and safe, and pitch in to keep the place humming

Work autonomously most days, with solid support from our Darwin-based Remote Service Manager

What you'll bring

Cert III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology (or equivalent) and minimum 3 years post-apprenticeship experience

Strong diagnostics (scan tools, electrical fault-finding) and sound mechanical know-how

Experience with Toyota vehicles preferred, as these make up a significant portion of our fleet work

Self-starter who can work solo or with a small crew in a remote setting

Good communicator who can read the room and keep customers happy

Current C class driver's licence (minimum) and full Australian work rights

Willingness to FIFO to remote communities and pass pre-employment medical & D&A screening

National Police Clearance (or ability to obtain)

Your own professional tool kit suited to LV servicing

Nice-to-haves (or keen to learn): light earthmoving, gensets/power, hydraulic & electrical diagnostics

Current air conditioning handling licence (ARC tick and tack)
