The College is seeking to appoint a replacement Co-Educator role at our Junior School. This replacement part-time Grade 2 role is, two days per week, 8:30am to 3:30pm, 39 weeks per year.

About the role:

The Co-Educator will under the direction of the Inclusive Education Coordinator, work collaboratively as a member of multi-disciplinary teaching and learning team. Co-Educators work directly, alongside the classroom teacher to assist with the day-to-day provision for the student in ways that are consistent with the school’s philosophy.

Key Responsibilities:

Assists teachers in the day-to-day teaching in support of student learning.
Attends designated school meetings for the purposes of staff training, professional development, or information as required.
Applies knowledge, adopt attitudes, and take the necessary actions to help educate students in all areas of the curriculum.
Undertakes all required training in accordance with school policies and WHS requirements.
Support individual students and groups of students with learning needs.
Conduct specific activities or learning tasks in consultation with the class teacher.
Assists children with additional needs in negotiation with the class teacher and Inclusive Education Coordinator.
Support students and teaching staff on excursions.
Improve knowledge and skills of working with students with special needs by attending appropriate professional development.

The successful candidates will:

Hold a Certificate III or demonstrates equivalent competencies at this grade.
Understanding of, and experience in, the rationale and implementation of outcome-based methodologies;
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
Effective and efficient classroom management skills and practices;
Collaborative approach with staff members, students and parents;
Competent in educational technology;
Possess, or be willing to obtain, Basic Emergency Life Support Training;
Possess, or be willing to obtain, a Working with Children Check (WWCC) and complete Responding to abuse and neglect-education & care (RRHAN–EC) training.
Be flexible and adaptable in their approach to work practices and management strategies.
Respect the confidentiality of all information about a child.
