We are looking for a full time Cook to join us at our 30-person residential ABH in Rozelle where we provide care services for people living with Psychosocial disabilities in a safe and supportive environment.

This role is Monday to Friday, 7am-3pm (no nights) - you will be preparing breakfast, lunch, snacks and cooking/prepping the evening meals and be in charge of basic kitchen maintenance and stock control.

With experience working within a large kitchen or a background in hospitality, you will be creating and cooking nutritious and balanced meals while managing our small commercial kitchen, including maintaining the cleanliness and hygiene of kitchen area and equipment in line with food safety standards.

You will also offer the following skills to support your experience:

Understanding of food purchasing, stock control and storage - working within a food budget

Experience in menu planning and delivery

Solid knowledge of nutrition; able to work within dietary requirements

High hygiene standards with significant knowledge of food safety and handling standards

A caring, compassionate and respectful attitude towards residents and staff - including working within professional boundaries

Good emotional regulation skills, with an understanding of de-escalation practices

Excellent communication skills and ability to relate to a wide range of people

Understanding the need to maintain confidentiality of clients - both at work and after hours

Mentoring skills - you may be required to mentor and support residents to develop skills in the kitchen

Qualifications as a chef/commercial cook or similar would be beneficial

Understanding diet types, textures, fluid consistencies

Reading resident food and fluid care plans if applicable

You are a FIT, RELIABLE, RESPONSIBLE, COMMITTED and PUNCTUAL person.

Own vehicle to get to and from work

You will need to have a current, valid Australian Drivers Licence, First Aid Certificate and a National Police Check.
