The Role
As Lead Horticulturist, you’ll deliver strategic agronomy and hands-on leadership across citrus operations based in Gin Gin, QLD. Working closely with Farm Managers and the National Horticulture Manager, you’ll drive crop performance, mentor junior agronomists, and play a pivotal role in the business' future growth.
Key responsibilities:
- Develop and implement best-practice agronomic programs
- Lead, mentor, and upskill junior agronomists
- Support farm managers with technical advice and field planning
- Drive yield optimisation across expanding citrus footprint
- Use farm data and digital tools to inform decisions
- Collaborate across sites to align operational practices
- Contribute to innovation, sustainability, and trial programs
About You
You are a commercially minded, field-focused horticultural leader with deep citrus expertise and a drive to innovate. You balance technical agronomy with team leadership and thrive in collaborative, evolving environments.
You will need:
- 5+ years in agronomy, ideally citrus-focused
- Qualifications in Horticulture, Agronomy or similar
- Strong people leadership and mentoring experience
- Operational and commercial acumen
- Data and tech-savvy approach to farm decision-making
Highly regarded:
- Experience with digital agronomy or precision farming
- Knowledge of irrigation systems and crop forecasting
- Broader horticultural crop exposure
