About your new role
Are you a civil engineer or designer who wants to see your work built? At the City of Gold Coast, we’re looking for a Senior Engineer to join our in-house team. You’ll take on challenging, city-shaping projects across roads, stormwater, and public spaces, ensuring designs are practical, safe and ready for delivery. You’ll also play an important role in coordinating utility services, helping resolve service clashes and integration issues before construction begins. It’s a chance to put your site or design knowledge to work upstream, making projects smoother and more efficient.
This is a great next step for:
Civil engineers or designers looking to take on more technical leadership.
Site or project engineers wanting to move off-site while staying close to delivery.
Utility coordinators seeking exposure across a broader range of infrastructure projects.
Responsibilities Include but are not limited to:
Lead the technical delivery of civil designs, ensuring compliance with City standards, Austroads, and QUDM.
Coordinate multidisciplinary inputs and manage design reviews to resolve conflicts across roads, stormwater, utilities and public spaces.
Help identify and resolve utility service clashes using tools like 12d and Navisworks (or learn on the job).
Provide input on staging, constructability and authority requirements.
Mentor junior engineers and designers and contribute to improving design processes.
Liaise with internal teams, service authorities, consultants and contractors.
We're looking for people who have:
Around 5+ years’ experience in civil engineering, design, construction delivery or utility coordination.
Civil engineering or design qualifications (or equivalent site-based experience).
Strong knowledge of civil engineering standards, Austroads, QUDM and local government policies.
Familiarity with public infrastructure projects such as roads, footpaths and drainage.
Good working knowledge of utility requirements and relocations.
Proficiency (or willingness to learn) software like 12d, Civil 3D, and Navisworks.
Strong communication and problem-solving skills
