About the position The Mental Health Clinician will work collaboratively within the Mental Health team to undertake individual assessments, develop targeted mental health support plans and provide evidence based psychological interventions for a diverse range of consumers with mental health needs and their families and carers. The position engages with communities impacted by adversity and delivers effective mental health support to individuals or groups. The Mental Health Clinician will also work under a person centred, recovery philosophy and collaboratively with other programs and key stakeholders including General Practitioners, Local Health District Clinicians, non-government organisations (NGOs) and government organisations to provide high quality outcomes for consumers and their families and carers. This position is based in the Murrumbidgee region and services communities across both the Murrumbidgee and Snowy Valleys areas, including towns such as Tumut, Batlow, Gundagai, Crookwell, Yass, and others. This is a full-time opportunity, fixed term until 30th June 2027. Full-time positions have the option for a Rostered Day Off each month.
We are looking for someone with:
- Current AHPRA registration as a Psychologist or Provisional Psychologist, Clinical Psychologist, Aboriginal Health Worker, Mental Health Nurse, or Occupational Therapist (accredited with OTA as meeting the Australian Competency Standards for occupational therapists in mental health), or accreditation (or working towards) with the AASW as a Mental Health Social Worker.
- Demonstrated experience in undertaking comprehensive mental health assessments and development of intervention plans in collaboration with consumers and their family and carers
- Demonstrated skills and experience in providing holistic, evidence-based therapeutic services
- Understanding of the biological, psychological and social underpinnings of mental health
- Demonstrated excellent interpersonal, communication and consultation skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team as well as independently.
- Understanding of legislative frameworks relevant to mental health consumers and families and carers
- Well-developed skills and knowledge of MS Office software and ability to use clinical information systems
