About the Role
We are currently seeking an experienced and motivated Fibre Technician to join our growing team. You’ll be responsible for the installation, hauling, splicing, testing, and maintenance of fibre optic networks across South Australia, supporting the delivery of critical telecommunications infrastructure.
This role will involve a mix of fibre installation, splicing, jointing, termination, fault finding, and testing, as well as working closely with project teams to ensure high-quality outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Haul, install, splice, terminate, and test fibre optic cables in accordance with client specifications and industry standards
Install PCD/BTD and build BJL, FJL, and DJL
Conduct fault-finding, troubleshooting, and repairs on fibre networks, including site integration
Perform OTDR, power meter, and light source testing, recording accurate results
Complete jointing and termination works within pits, manholes, cabinets, and customer premises
Prepare accurate job documentation, including test results, as-builts, and field reports
Liaise with supervisors, project managers, and clients to ensure quality and timely delivery
Maintain and operate tools, test equipment, and plant safely and efficiently
Undertake civil works, including pit and pipe installation
Carry out conduit work
What We're Looking For
Experience as a Fibre Technician in NBN or telecommunications networks
Proficiency in fibre splicing, termination, and testing (OTDR, power meter, etc.)
Understanding of NBN standards, network designs, and industry work practices
White Card (Construction Induction) – mandatory
Manual driver’s licence – required (MR or HR licence desirable)
Relevant fibre or NBN accreditations
Traffic Control ticket
First Aid/CPR certification
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Strong attention to detail, commitment to safety, and a proactive attitude
Physically fit and willing to work outdoors in varied conditions
Comfortable with technology and digital reporting tools
Willingness to work away from home when required
