Role overview:
We are supporting a federal client to strengthen their cyber security posture by delivering governance, risk, and compliance (GRC) assurance during a period of significant cloud and security uplift. This role provides the opportunity to work with emerging technologies while helping shape and enhance the department's cloud and security capabilities. You will be responsible for conducting risk assessments, implementing and managing security controls, and ensuring compliance with Australian Government cyber security frameworks
Key responsibilities:
Conduct security risk assessments of systems and applications in line with the PSPF and Information Security Manual ISM
Assess and provide assurance across Azure Cloud, legacy ICT systems, AI technologies, and other complex environments
Provide expert guidance on secure application and system design, ensuring alignment with PSPF, ISM, and Essential Eight requirements
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to uplift the department's cyber security posture
Present detailed risk assessment findings and advice to senior executive stakeholders to support strategic decision-making
Liaise effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders to communicate cyber security risks, issues, and recommendations
To be successful, you will have extensive experience in:
Extensive experience conducting security risk assessments within Government cyber security teams
Proven expertise in assessing Azure Cloud environments, legacy ICT systems, AI technologies, and complex system architectures.
Strong knowledge of the Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF), Information Security Manual (ISM), and Essential Eight, with the ability to provide guidance on secure application and system design.
Solid understanding of cloud technologies and networking infrastructure, with the capability to identify risks and recommend effective security controls.
