The Opportunity

We’re seeking an experienced Fitter & Turner / Manual Machinist for a short-term contract to machine stainless-steel components using a manual metal lathe and vertical mill. This role supports maintenance and reliability outcomes in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment.

What you’ll do

Machine stainless-steel parts to drawing on manual lathes and mills.

Interpret engineering drawings, set up workholding, select tooling, and determine feeds/speeds.

Achieve dimensional tolerances and surface finishes; verify using micrometers, verniers, gauges.

Deburr, clean, and prepare parts for assembly; maintain accurate job records.

Uphold safety, food-grade, and housekeeping standards.

What you’ll bring

Proven experience as a Fitter & Turner / Manual Machinist (stainless-steel essential).

Strong competency on manual lathes and milling machines (not just CNC).

Ability to read drawings, work to tight tolerances, and self-inspect.

Sound knowledge of tooling, coolants, and machining best practice.

Cert III Engineering – Mechanical Trade (Fitter & Turner) or equivalent (preferred).

Reliable, self-starting, and able to deliver to short timelines.

Full work rights in Australia; available to commence immediately.

What’s on offer

Fixed-term 1-month engagement (potential extension subject to workload).

Day shift, Monday–Friday, 38 hours/week within a 6am–6pm roster window.
