Lives Lived Well offer a variety of community and residential Alcohol and Other Drug programs throughout Queensland, New South Wales, and South Australia, helping thousands of people every year to navigate AOD related challenges and move forward in life.
A new Ipswich Residential AOD Treatment Facility is opening, which will deliver high-quality, specialist residential AOD treatment services for adults aged 18 years and over. The centre will provide a total of 46 beds, comprising 36 beds for residential rehabilitation and 10 beds for withdrawal management and care.
Your Opportunity
We are seeking a compassionate and motivated AOD Support Worker to join our Residential Services team where you’ll provide support and supervision to clients undertaking the treatment program. This is an opportunity to work in a dynamic, trauma-informed environment where your contribution directly impacts the lives of individuals overcoming substance dependence.
This role operates on a rotating 7-day roster and includes a mix of morning, afternoon, and overnight shifts. You must be available to work:
- Evening shifts: 6:00pm – 10:00pm
- Sleepover shifts: 10:30pm – 6:30am
- Weekend shifts: Morning, afternoon, and evening
Salary for this role is between $38.00 - $41.00 per hour plus Superannuation and Salary Packaging up to $15,900 per year. Although the service will be operational late November 2025, and we are looking for people able to start in October for training and induction.
What you’ll bring
You don’t need to hold a formal qualification for this role, but you do need to be motivated, committed, and have a genuine interest in working within the Alcohol and Other Drugs sector. Your skills and attributes will include:
· Flexibility and commitment to working a 24/7 roster pattern – and feeling comfortable working in an autonomous role
· Brings eagerness to take on a range of relational tasks – you’ll be working with residents at an individual and group level to assist them to address their substance dependence and the issues associated with this
· Demonstrated experience in, or willingness to learn, group facilitation, including agenda and goal setting, and participation in meetings
· Ability to support residents through admission and discharge processes, organise community-based outings, and supervise self-administration of medications
· Builds genuine connections and communicates with purpose – you’ll bring empathy, resilience, and hope to every interaction, supporting clients from diverse backgrounds as they navigate detox and recovery
· Is confident demonstrating emotional maturity and a calm demeanour, especially in high-pressure or conflict situations
· Demonstrates knowledge of the complexities of alcohol and substance use, with an understanding of professional boundaries within AOD support work
· You’ll self-care – this role can be challenging and it’s important to us that you are at your best, to do your best
· Being willing, engaged and comfortable with change – we welcome ideas and suggestions for improvement
· Strong computer skills, experience with client note-taking and an understanding of how handovers work
You will need to hold a current Australian Drivers Licence, and either hold, be working towards, or willing to obtain a Certificate IV in Alcohol and Other Drugs, Mental Health, Community Services or other relevant field. You will also need to be willing to obtain your First Aid and CPR Certificate.
