Springsure Multipurpose Health Service is located 300kms west of the Rockhampton, 809km north-west of Brisbane and 68km south of Emerald. The population is approximately 1700 including the town and surrounding districts. Springsure is situated in the Central Highlands Regional Council area and supports local mines and agricultural producers. Situated among craggy volcanic peaks, Springsure offers a peaceful and relaxed lifestyle amidst spectacular scenery and a rural atmosphere. Springsure Hospital is a 24 bed Multipurpose Health Service delivering services across emergency, acute care, residential aged care, and the Commonwealth Home Support Program.
About the role:
A Nurse Practitioner is a registered nurse/registered midwife who:
- direct referral of recipients of healthcare services to other healthcare professionals
- prescribing medications, and
- ordering and interpreting results of diagnostic investigations
- Functions autonomously and collaboratively in an advanced and expanded clinical role.
- Uses expanded skills and knowledge in assessment planning and implementation, diagnosis and evaluation of nursing care required.

The Nurse Practitioner (NP) for Central Queensland Hospital and Health Service works in collaboration with the Director of Nursing and wider CQ Health team to support the clinical unit in provision of safe quality healthcare through exemplary clinical nursing standards of practice for the specialty of rural and remote health.
Nurse Practitioners will have 20% of their rostered hours allocated away from direct clinical duties to support them to work to their full scope of practice.
About you:
- A Master of Nursing (Nurse Practitioner) qualification with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) endorsement and a current annual practising certificate is a mandatory requirement of this position.
- The successful applicant will be required to undergo the CQ Health Nursing and Midwifery and Health Practitioner Credentialing and Defining Scope of Clinical Practice Sub Committee requirements for credentialing as a Nurse Practitioner according to the Central Queensland Hospital and Health Service policy.
- Commitment to completion of a Master of Nursing qualification within an agreed timeframe is expected and will form part of the performance and development plan may be negotiated.
What we offer:
Total remuneration value of up to $177,797 p.a. is comprised of:
- An hourly rate between $75.27 - $78.59 p.h.
- 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
- 17.5% leave loading
