Role: Manual Lathes Machinist Located in Altona, VIC
Hours: Monday to Friday | 7:00am – 3:30pm
Position Type: Full-time, Permanent
Pay & Benefits: $40–$50/hr + overtime at penalty rates, regular overtime and an employee share scheme.

Key Responsibilities:

• Set up and operate conventional lathes, including 4-jaw chucks and steady rests
• Interpret detailed engineering drawings and specifications
• Use precision measuring instruments (micrometers, gauges, verniers, etc.)
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment
• Accurately record job details in the Shop Floor Entry system
• Perform quality inspections and report any issues or rework required
• Contribute to lean manufacturing initiatives and continuous improvement

What We’re Looking For:

• Trade-qualified Fitter and Turner or Fitter Machinist
• Proven experience with conventional lathe work, including engine lathes (5m bed length, 2m chuck diameter)
• Knowledge of speeds, feeds, insert selection, and aligning warped jobs using datum points (training provided if needed)
• Commitment to safe, efficient, and high-quality work practices
