Our client is a progressive, family-owned cropping enterprise based in Central Queensland. Since its establishment in 2011, the business has grown to manage over 5,500 hectares across owned, share, and contract farms.
With strong roots in both summer and winter cropping, the business cultivates sorghum, mung beans, wheat, chickpeas, and cotton, while also championing sustainable farming through certified production practices. The Role
This key leadership role reports directly to the business owners and will oversee the planning and execution of day-to-day farm and contract harvesting, planting, spraying and farming. With a mix of operational oversight and hands-on machinery work, you'll lead a growing team through seasonal cycles and ensure the smooth operation of both core farms and contracted sites.
Key responsibilities include:
- Delivering cropping and agronomy plans in coordination with owners and agronomist
- Managing schedules for harvesting, spraying, planting, and contract farming
- Operating and maintaining modern machinery (tractors, headers, sprayers, robots)
- Leading and supervising permanent and casual staff
- Driving machinery problem-solving and mechanical troubleshooting
- Leading safety initiatives and participating in structured team meetings
About You
You're an experienced and hands-on agricultural professional with a strong mechanical aptitude and a natural leadership style. You thrive in structured, systems-based environments and are passionate about developing both people and process.
To succeed in this role, you will need:
- 3–5+ years in hands-on cropping (harvest, spray, plant experience essential)
- Strong mechanical and diagnostic skills for machinery troubleshooting
- A current MC truck licence (road train operations)
- Developed people management skills
- A tech-savvy mindset with comfort using apps and farm systems
