Western Plains Correctional Centre is a modern, maximum-security prison focussed on rehabilitation, housing up to 1248 people in custody. About the Role:
The Diversity Officer is a key role within the Offender Services team which is responsible for the co-ordination and delivery of a range of rehabilitation, reintegration and specialist support services. The Diversity Officer manages the delivery of support and advocacy for individuals in care with diverse needs, including those from multicultural, multi-faith, and LGBTIQ+ communities, ensuring that services are tailored to meet their unique requirements.
Some of your duties will include:
- Working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to co-ordinate and deliver specialist services, including cultural and religious events.
- Contribute to, and participate in case management activities, including providing practice advice and support to case managers on diversity-related issues.
- Researching and implementing programs, services and activities that are responsive to the needs ofdiverse cohorts.
The Diversity Officer will foster an inclusive and respectful environment, ensuring that all people in care, regardless of their culture, religion, gender identity and sexual orientation, are assisted to access appropriate supports and services, and are treated with dignity and respect.
About You:
To be successful in this role you will demonstrate:
- Proven experience in working with diverse populations, including multi-cultural, multi-faith andLGBTIQ+ communities.
- Experience in co-ordinating and delivering support services, preferably within a rehabilitation orsocial services field.
- Understanding of the unique needs and challenges faced by diverse and marginalisedcommunities, along with the available supports and services to address these issues.
