Position: General Maintenance Team Member

The Essington School Darwin is seeking a skilled and motivated General Maintenance Team Member to join our Maintenance Team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a broad range of general maintenance skills who is passionate about maintaining a safe, functional, and welcoming school environment.

About the Role:

In this hands-on role, you will be responsible for a wide variety of general maintenance tasks across our campus. You’ll work as part of a supportive team to ensure our school facilities are maintained to a high standard.

Key Responsibilities:

Perform general repairs and maintenance across school buildings and grounds

Assist with painting, carpentry, minor plumbing, and basic electrical work (within qualifications)

Conduct routine inspections and identify potential maintenance issues

Support with setting up school events and moving furniture/equipment

Maintain cleanliness and safety of maintenance areas and tools

Liaise with staff to respond promptly to maintenance requests

What We’re Looking For:

Proven experience in a general maintenance or similar role

Broad range of practical maintenance and handyman skills

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail

Reliable, punctual, and proactive

Willingness to work in a school environment and around children

Current NT Working with Children Clearance (or ability to obtain)

Desirable Qualifications:

Trade qualification or relevant certifications (preferred but not essential)

Current driver's licence
