We are looking for an experienced Intake Officer to join our not-for-profit organisation.
The Intake Officer is our first point of contact for all potential clients, their families and/or representatives. Using a client-focused approach, our Intake Officer supports clients to move through the intake process and receive Nexus support services that best suit them.
This role is being offered as a full time role but part time is negotiable for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities
The Intake Officer is responsible for implementing a coordinated intake process that identifies client support needs and matches them with the supports that Nexus provides. This includes initial assessment of client needs, gathering of documents and liaising with relevant internal support teams.
A key part of the role is establishing and maintaining genuine relationships with potential clients and building their confidence in Nexus as a quality provider of supports.
Day to day activities include:
Providing a positive, professional, and efficient intake process for potential clients, families, and their representatives.
Obtaining accurate and current client information to upload to the Nexus Client Management System (MYP).
Monitoring, recording, and allocating enquiries to appropriate divisions and following up with Divisional Managers. This may include advocating on behalf of clients to receive services.
Identifying client and/or organisational risk, compliance reporting and obligations and report to Executive.
Working collaboratively with Divisional Managers, Assistant Managers, Team Leaders, Allied Health Professionals and external stakeholders.
Coordinating visits to Supported Living properties with clients and relevant stakeholders (and attending as required)
Managing and updating client intake vacancies state-wide
Preparing Client Intake documents including relevant finance documentation such as lease agreements, deduction forms and bond details.
Pro-actively consulting with external stakeholders to develop professional networks.
Completing administrative requirements in a timely manner, including reporting and storage of documentation.
Our ideal candidate will have the following (Selection Criteria)
Experience advocating for clients and families to navigate the NDIS system and receive the support they need
Knowledge and understanding of NDIS funding and frameworks and how to best support clients to maximise their support within their funding plans
Excellent communication skills with the confidence and ability to influence and collaborate across all levels of the organisation and with external stakeholders
Ability to professionally liaise and adapt communication styles with clients and their families to meet their requirements and provide a positive intake experience
Ability to work with referral agencies, services and other stakeholders to proactively present the organisation as a provider of quality support to people with disability.
Demonstrated experience in finding innovative solutions to match client needs with the services being offered by the organisation
Ability to maintain high levels of professionalism, confidentiality, integrity and ethics
Sound understanding of administrative procedures and practice including client contract compliance
Ability to work autonomously, prioritise organisational requirements and work to deadlines.
Ability to effectively manage changing circumstances and competing demands.
Qualifications / Experience
Appropriate tertiary qualifications in a related field, preferably Cert IV/Diploma in Disability or Community Services.
Experience of the NDIS and ability to quickly acquire knowledge relevant to this position (desirable)
Experience working with MYP (desirable)
Working in the disability sector means you will also need the following:
Current National Police Check (no more than 6 months old)
Current Working with Vulnerable People Card (with NDIS endorsement)
Unrestricted Tasmanian Driver’s license
Note: A pre-employment medical will be required for this role (including drug and alcohol testing).
