About the Role
Internally known as the Research Support Officer, the Research Administration Officer will provide administrative support and advice, along with project management support for the College of Medicine and Public Health and related institutes and centres.
As part of the Research Development Services (RDS) team, you will assist with:
- Administration and coordination of research projects and internal grants.
- Interpretation and application of regulations, policies, and procedures to advise researchers on external funding opportunities, grant rules, and professional development.
- Contributing to administration for post-award administration, reporting, and project tracking.
About You
With extensive experience in high-level administration, you bring excellent communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills to build strong and collaborative relationships with staff, colleagues, and stakeholders. You are confident in interpreting policies and procedures, managing multiple priorities, and supporting teams to achieve successful outcomes. Your well-developed written and verbal communication skills, strong attention to detail, and ability to work autonomously and proactively ensure you can provide effective support to researchers within the College.
You will also be able to demonstrate:
- Experience in budgeting, reporting, or project coordination.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills to manage complex tasks and develop practical solutions.
- The ability to interpret and advise on regulations and administrative policies and procedures.

Research Development and Support (RDS) works with Flinders researchers, Colleges, Centres and Institutes, other portfolios, and external stakeholders to proactively support our research. Our teams underpin Flinders' research evolving from ideas through to impact. RDS is part of the Portfolio of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research) and provides excellence in all facets of research management and promoting Flinders' research. This position will be supporting a community of researchers at Flinders Health and Medica Research Institute (FHMRI).

This position involves child related work and is assessed as requiring a Working with Children Clearance/Ochre Card.

- Experience in drafting reports and collection and analysis of data for statistical purposes.
- Experience in development and monitoring of budgets.
