The Role
Due to recent growth at TAFE SA, we are seeking a Finance Manager to help strengthen the financial support we provide across the organisation. This role will enhance the level of service we deliver to the business and offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a dynamic, evolving environment.
The Finance Manager - Operations plays a pivotal role in supporting strategic decision-making by providing high-level financial expertise, analysis, and guidance. Drawing on extensive professional experience and relevant qualifications, the role delivers complex and specialised financial functions to support Operational Divisions in achieving their operational and strategic goals.
This role works closely with Executive Directors and Directors to drive strong business outcomes. It provides leadership in financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and advisory services, while fostering trusted partnerships with executives and managers.
The position leads a high-performing finance team, delivering timely insights and analysis to support decision-making on budgets, investments, projects, contracts, and policies. A key focus is driving continuous improvement in financial processes and managing the Financial Planning System to ensure effective resource allocation and long-term organisational performance. The Finance Manager – Operations must be a confident people leader who will develop the team and foster an inclusive team working environment.
Key Outcomes include:
- Lead the strategic planning, delivery and evaluation of critical finance programs, functions and advisory services, including forecasting and budgeting processes and the preparation of advice for Executive and Board reporting.
- Lead the implementation and monitoring of accounting practice and budgets in accordance with TAFE SA policies and procedures and Department of Treasury and Finance requirement and obligations.
- Provide financial leadership, analysis and actionable insights into investment proposals, business cases, capital and operating projects, major contracts, policy and analysis on both revenue and expense items.
- Lead a high performing team in the delivery of a business partnership approach and the provision of consistent, timely and relevant monthly reporting, regular stakeholder meetings, commercial advice and financial analysis which satisfy the goals of TAFE SA.
- Lead the financial planning, development, management and evaluation of critical projects including managing and evaluating resources, performance and quality assurance and monitoring and reporting on deliverables and budgets.
- Work collaboratively with the Finance Manager Education to ensure operational alignment across both teams and consistency regarding process, analysis and standardisation of reporting.
- Develop, manage and evaluate resource plans including efficiently managing the teams significant financial and physical resources and ensuring activities are completed in accordance with agreed schedules and work practices.
- Responsible for the management and improvement of the Financial Reporting System used by the Finance Business Partner team

Special Conditions
The successful applicant is required to demonstrate having a valid DHS Working With Children Check (WWCC) prior to being employed. Applicants who do not hold a WWCC will need to apply at Department of Human Services (DHS).

- Some intra/interstate travel and overnight absences may be required.
- Incumbent will be required to participate in the department's Performance Development Program.
