KITCHEN ASSISTANT/DELIVERY DRIVER – Permanent Part Time

40 hours per fortnight, Monday, Wednesday, Friday

Location: Victoria Point Service, 314 Colburn Avenue

We have an exciting opportunity for a Kitchen Assistant/Delivery Driver Officer based at our Victoria Point service. The primary role of this position is to assist the chef in the kitchen, ensure adherence to food safety and to assist with tasks associated with the delivery of meals to clients.

Meals on Wheels has operated successfully in the Aged Care Sector for over 70 years and now provides services to many others in our communities including NDIS participants. Within the Brisbane South Aged Care Planning Region, 11 Meals on Wheels Services have amalgamated to become Meals on Wheels Brisbane South.

We are seeking an enthusiastic, committed person who will work closely with our team and volunteers. The ideal person has experience working in a commercial kitchen and has an open driver’s licence. We do not operate on weekends, nights or public holidays. The successful applicant will start at 6:30 am and finish around 1.00 pm on the designated workdays.

In this role you will be responsible for

· Assisting with meal preparation and labelling.

· Cleaning including scrubbing pots and kitchen utensils/equipment.

· Packing of eskies in line with meal run sheets.

· Organising the freezers and rotating stock.

· Taking eskies to the ferry for our Bay Island clients.

About You

· Demonstrated experience in working in a commercial kitchen environment as a kitchen assistant, chef or cook.

· Demonstrated experience in planning, working and managing time with minimal supervision and under pressure, including the ability to discern priorities, plan ahead and coordinate with others to complete tasks.

· Possess a current valid and open driver’s licence.

· Experience with computer systems, software and Microsoft Office.
