About the Position
Are you passionate about making a difference in the allied health and care sector, especially in regional and remote communities? Charles Darwin University (CDU) TAFE is looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic lecturer to join our Health & Community Services team. This role is not just about teaching; it's about transforming lives by delivering essential healthcare training to some of the most remote and underserved communities in the Northern Territory.

We believe in the power of education to change lives. As a TAFE Lecturer in Essential Care Services, you’ll play a crucial role in improving healthcare outcomes in some of the most remote parts of Australia. You'll be supported by a dedicated team and have access to ongoing professional development opportunities to help you grow in your career.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Training and Assessment: Deliver high-quality, competency-based training across various delivery modes, including face-to-face, online, and workplace-based. Ensure that all training meets the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA) standards and the specific needs of the CHC Community Services and HLT Health Training Packages.
  • Community Engagement: Travel to regional and remote communities to provide training that is culturally sensitive and tailored to the unique needs of the local population. Engage with community and health services to understand and address the specific challenges faced by these communities.
  • Student Support: Create and maintain an inclusive learning environment that encourages participation and responsibility. Provide personalised learning plans and support to enhance student success, recognising the diverse needs and learning styles of students in remote areas.
  • Resource Development: Develop and adapt teaching resources to suit the varied learning environments and resources available in remote communities, ensuring that all materials meet industry and university standards.
  • Liaison and Communication: Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including industry partners, to ensure training delivery aligns with current healthcare practices and community needs.

About You
To be successful, you will require:

  • TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (or its successor).
  • Relevant vocational qualifications in allied health and/or health care services (e.g. Certificate IV in Aged Care, Diploma of Nursing, Diploma of Community Services, Certificate IV in Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Health Care Practice, Certificate III in Individual Support).
  • Experience delivering competency-based training and assessment in accordance with ASQA requirements for the CHC and HLT training packages
  • Experience in delivering community services and/or healthcare training, particularly within remote or Indigenous community settings, is highly desirable.

Remuneration
Appointment to this role will be at Teaching Focused Academic Level A. The base salary will be in the range of $74,157 – $111,253 per annum. The total remuneration package will be in the range of $86,763 - $130,166 per annum, including 17% superannuation.

What’s in it for you?

  • An employer who values your contribution to building a bigger, better and stronger University
  • Work with a University committed to changing people’s lives for the better through training, education and research
  • Opportunities for professional development, paid study and career progression
  • An enviable lifestyle in the spectacular Northern Territory
  • 17% superannuation
  • Up to six weeks of paid annual leave
  • Up to 26 weeks of paid parental leave (primary care giver), in addition to government payments (eligibility criteria apply)
  • Recognition of prior service with another Australian university / NT Government for Long Service Leave (recognition applied to qualifying period only)
  • Ability to negotiate transfer of leave entitlements under the Public Employment (Mobility) Act 1989
  • Free on-campus parking in designated areas
  • Employee Assistance Program
  • Salary Packaging opportunities
