Who are we?

The Aboriginal Social and Emotional Wellbeing Centre is a place of hope grounded in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander customs, values, spiritual connection to ancestral lands, seas, and waters, and cultural knowledge. It offers a culturally safe and welcoming environment where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people can access support for their mental health and social and emotional wellbeing. The Centre takes a holistic, whole person approach that respects and includes traditional healing methods. Staff are culturally aware, trauma-informed, recovery-focused, and provide warm, non-judgemental, and compassionate care.

Centre Implementation:

Our centre is set to officially commence service delivery October 2025. We are now recruiting passionate, enthusiastic staff who are not only committed to delivering accessible and culturally safe care, but who are also excited by the unique opportunity to help shape something from the ground up. Position Commencement: ASAP

Hours: Full time (1.0FTE)

Contract: Ongoing

Location: While our permanent centre is being established in the CBD, positions will be based at various locations in metro Adelaide.

About the Role:

As the Aboriginal Social and Emotional Wellbeing (SEWB) Lead, you will provide strategic, cultural, and operational leadership for SEWB services. You’ll supervise and support staff to deliver culturally safe, trauma-informed, and holistic care for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals, families, and communities. Guided by the SEWB Framework, you will help your team support people across the lifespan experiencing distress, grief, trauma, or disconnection, fostering healing through cultural identity, advocacy, and whole-of-person care. In this senior leadership role, you will embed Aboriginal ways of knowing, being, and doing across practice, strengthen workforce capacity, promote staff wellbeing, and build strong interagency partnerships.

Experience Requirements:

  • This position is an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Identified position and is exempt under the Equal Opportunity Act (1984). The position will only be open to those who identify as of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent
  • Leading SEWB, mental health, or community wellbeing programs.
  • Supervising Aboriginal staff and supporting workforce development.
  • Engaging with Elders, families, and communities in culturally responsive ways.
  • Designing, delivering, and evaluating programs.
  • Navigating complex service systems (justice, housing, AOD, mental health)

Qualification and Other Requirements:

  • Working With Children’s Check
  • National Police Check
  • Working with Vulnerable People Check
  • Immunisations is accordance to SA health Immunisation Policy
  • Tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology,
  • Certificate IV in Mental Health, Community Services, or related field (or extensive relevant experience).
  • Leadership/management qualifications (desirable).
