Every day, people take the big step to call us, while navigating their way through a broad range of challenges and circumstances. This initial contact is a crucial part of the help-seeking process and the intake team wholeheartedly recognise the significance of this moment. The intake team are the lifeblood of our organisation and are held in high regard as they set the tone for clients engaging in our service.
Your primary responsibility will involve speaking on the phone to many different types of people seeking mental health support, recommending a suitable therapeutic fit for the client, and empowering them to book an initial appointment with a quality assured therapist from our network of private practices. You can learn more about our service by visiting www.lifesupportscounselling.com.au.
Our intake call centre office is based in Balwyn, Melbourne and this is an office-based only role.
The intake team work across a 7-day roster during the hours of 8am-8pm Monday to Friday and 9am-5pm on weekends. This role is ideal for someone who is looking for flexibility during the week, as we are especially looking for team members who can regularly work evening shifts (finishing at 8pm) and weekend shifts. Our current team members work anywhere between 8-30 hours a week, depending on individual preference and availability.
As an intake consultant, a meaningful impact looks like:
Building trust quickly with clients over the phone and email
Simplifying complex information to make the process simple and achievable
Tailoring your approach and recommendation so that each client feels confident in making the best decision for their specific needs
Applying problem-solving skills and directive communication to navigate personal and practical barriers that might prevent clients from getting therapeutic support
Using your energetic and intuitive communication skills to activate clients into taking a step forward into action
Identifying efficiencies and optimising your workflow so that you can assist as many people as possible while maintaining a high standard of care
Completing administrative duties efficiently and accurately to ensure the experience of attending a first counselling appointment is effortless
Are you the right fit? (Key Selection Criteria)

Are driven to achieve excellence: experience in meeting and exceeding high performance standards

All other training is provided in the role.
When considering if this role is the right fit for you, please note that the intent to help others is indeed required and commendable, however, this is only part of the equation in providing successful outcomes for help-seekers.
