Talent International is searching for an experienced Data Engineer to join our large mining technology client based in Brisbane CBD on a permanent basis, with 2 days WFH per week.

The role:
This position will see you play a key role in a large-scale program to develop and deploy a SaaS data and analytics solution for one of the leading mobile mining equipment manufacturers in the APAC region. You'll partner with business stakeholders, technology teams, and third-party ecosystem partners to design data pipeline requirements, data models, algorithms, and predictive models to support operational insights and efficiency.

Responsibilities:

• Design and implement new data models and metrics
• Assist in establishing the DevOps environment
• Develop data pipelines and warehouse solutions in collaboration with technology partners
• Collect, prepare, and ensure quality of data across multiple sources
• Apply statistical and machine learning techniques to analyse large datasets
• Build predictive models to optimise mining operations and equipment maintenance
• Develop visualisations, dashboards, and reports for real-time monitoring
• Work with engineers and mining experts to improve operational efficiency

Requirements:

• 2-3+ years of experience in a Data Engineering role
• Strong SQL skills and experience with modern data warehousing (e.g. Snowflake)
• Proven experience designing and implementing high-performance data pipelines on cloud platforms (AWS preferred, Azure considered)
• Hands-on experience with DevOps practices (highly regarded)
• Proficiency in Python, R, SQL, Java, or JavaScript
• Experience with BI tools such as Looker, Power BI, or Tableau (highly regarded)
• Exposure to machine learning techniques (highly regarded)
• Experience with Snowflake, Airflow, and AWS (EC2, S3) desirable
• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field
