Engineering Manager (Hands-on) We’re looking for an experienced Engineering Manager to lead a high-performing team of software, data, and test engineers. This role is suited to someone who enjoys balancing hands-on technical delivery with leadership, mentoring, and building a strong engineering culture.
What you’ll be doing

• Lead and mentor a team of 10–15 engineers in an agile, collaborative environment.
• Take ownership of key system components, ensuring high-quality design and delivery.
• Write clean, efficient code and guide best practices in coding, testing, and deployment.
• Oversee Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines, driving automation and smooth deployments.
• Manage incidents and ensure timely resolution of issues.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver value iteratively and at pace.
• Champion continuous learning and professional development within the team.

What you’ll bring

• 4+ years’ experience leading engineering teams.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.
• Deep technical knowledge in ASP.NET Core, C#, and Entity Framework Core.
• Experience with modern web application architecture (Blazor or Angular or React, Typescript, HTML5, CSS3).
• Strong understanding of Microsoft Azure (App Service, API Management, Azure Functions, Service Bus, Azure SQL DB).
• Background in DevOps, CI/CD, and test-driven development practices.
• Ability to balance technical depth with business priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Nice to have

• Understanding of microservices patterns.
• Exposure to automation and continuous delivery.
• Knowledge of financial services or financial mathematics.

Work environment

• Hybrid work model: 2 days from home, 3 days in the office (Tues-Thurs).
• Location: Melbourne CBD.
