SEEKING LEGAL ASSISTANT

The Firm

Small legal practice located in the Western Suburbs of Melbourne is headed by an experienced lawyer. We practice criminal law, family law, property conveyancing, notarial services, commercial disputes, small business advice, community association disputes and wills, and probates. The legal practice is committed to serving the local community by offering approachable and straightforward services.

The Opportunity

Great paid opportunity for a motivated and personable law student to gain training and personal mentoring to set up your career. Paid opportunity to work 2 days a week as an assistant to a generalist practitioner with substantial experience in law as well as a background as a university law lecturer.

The person should have a commitment to learning, good people skills to assist in a broad range of legal services serving a diverse local community, and be comfortable taking initiative and asking questions. Someone who lives locally and has a community language is preferred.

Past students have established a good working relationship with the principal lawyers and have gone on to start blossoming careers in the law field and at prestigious firms.

About you

A law student - second year + or JD Student

Previous legal experience is not required, but customer service experience is useful

A sense of community and people skills

Willingness to learn a broad range of generalist legal services and deal with diverse clients from different cultural backgrounds

Willingness to learn the use of software and IT applications, and Social Media forums
