Are you a passionate and skilled gardener with a green thumb and a heart for helping others? We are seeking a dedicated Gardener to join our team and help create beautiful, therapeutic outdoor spaces for our residents at our aged care facility.

About the Role

As our Gardener, you will be responsible for the overall maintenance and enhancement of our facility's grounds and gardens. Your work will directly contribute to the well-being and quality of life of our residents, providing them with serene and accessible outdoor environments to enjoy. This role is about more than just gardening; it’s about creating a safe and welcoming space that residents can connect with and find peace in.

Key Responsibilities:

Garden Maintenance: Perform regular gardening duties including planting, weeding, mulching, pruning, and watering to ensure the gardens are healthy and vibrant.

Aesthetic Enhancement: Design and implement seasonal planting schemes and landscape improvements to keep the gardens visually appealing.

Safety and Accessibility: Maintain all paths, walkways, and garden beds to ensure they are safe, clear, and easily accessible for residents, including those with mobility aids.

Therapeutic Gardens: Help develop and maintain specialized therapeutic gardens (e.g., sensory gardens, raised garden beds) that encourage resident engagement and participation.

Tool and Equipment Care: Safely operate and maintain all gardening tools and equipment.

Collaboration: Work alongside our care and lifestyle teams to support outdoor activities and programs for residents.

What We're Looking For:

Proven experience in a gardening or landscaping role, preferably in a commercial or community setting.

A strong understanding of horticulture and plant care, with a keen eye for detail.

Familiarity with garden tools, machinery, and safety protocols.

A compassionate and patient attitude, with a genuine interest in working with the elderly.

The ability to work independently and manage your time effectively.

Excellent communication skills and a friendly, approachable demeanor.

A valid driver’s license (desirable).

National Police Check or willingness to obtain one.
