We currently have the opportunity for Swim Instructors to join our team at the Kiama Leisure Centre to plan, teach and promote swimming lessons.
In the role of Swim Instructor, you will also:
- Teach swim classes targeting ability, levels and ages
- Follow current set programs
- Communicate with centre staff regarding lesson times, variations and changes
- Report and record achievements of students with certificates
- Maintain currency with your qualifications
- Be available for staff meetings or specified in-service training
- Maintain good public relations in a positive manner.
What we offer...
- Casual positions offering flexibility to suit your lifestyle
- Hourly pay rate from $37.47 inclusive of 25% casual loading
- Plus applicable penalties in accordance with the Award, including penalty rates for weekend work
- 12% superannuation.
What you'll need to be successful in the role...
- A current Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety Certificate (such as AUSTSWIM)
- A valid CPR qualification
- To have completed a minimum of 20 hours experience as a Swimming Instructor working with children of various age groups, effectively teaching a variety of swimming strokes
- To have completed, or be willing and able to complete, the Teacher of Infant and Preschool Aquatics (INF) within 3 months of commencement
- An understanding of the principles of child learning
- The ability to instruct water survival techniques
- The ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Pre-Employment Checks
This is a child-related position. You will be required to provide Council with your valid and current Working with Children Check (WWCC) number as a condition of your employment. In addition, your employment will be subject to a National Criminal Record Check and pre-employment medical to determine your suitability for employment.
All employees and other workers must uphold and promote safety and wellbeing for children and young people.
